Does any one have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and the MTHFR 677T mutation?

@XX230, having a low TSH doesn't mean you're hyperthyroid, it means the pituitary isn't yelling at the thyroid to make more hormones. Have you ever checked Reverse T3? If it's high, it can keep you hypo. Please join the Facebook group, The Attuned Thyroid, for good information. And they can help you find a prescriber who doesn't dose meds by TSH.

I have both, I have tried Armour, WP thyroid, pretty much all the natural desiccated... but found levo to work the best. I gained 10lbs immediately every time they increased my dose of Armour. Cytomel, not sure if it helped but doctors won't keep me on it as it lowers my TSH significantly and puts me in Hyperthyroid based on TSH test.

23AndMe specifically told me in an email that they no longer test those regions. So it won t be in the raw data.

I think you just get raw data from 23&me and now you have to go to Genetic Genie or Nutrahacker and input data and you will get a detailed report.

To @EJ7517. I ve had Hashi s & other autoimmune dx for 40 yrs that cause my doctors to shake their heads. My extended family has multiple autoimmune diseases.
I haven t looked my 23&me genes up yet but after 40 yrs of thyroid problems, I wanted to share that ONLY Levothyroxine & Armour Thyroid together make me feel good. The endo docs were unenthusiastic about Armour Thyroid but my functional gynecologist tried me on Armour Thyroid and WOW, what a difference. Remember, normal levels is more of an average or common healthy range for most, but many of us are outliers. So don t let them talk you out of exploring options to make YOU feel better. Big pharma has a strong hold on many physicians plus the bias toward those who fall in the so-called normal levels of Thyroid lab tests.

@EJ7517, I didn't do well on Levo, either. I actually have the genes that say I'm not a good converter of T4 to T3. I take natural thyroid and T3.
Check out this Facebook group. They cover all these topics:

They are admins that were in the FTPO (for thyroid patients only) groups that the founder closed down last week.

Some information on the Market her gene from the people who should know, 23andMe. They are after all, the ones that make lots of money from the testing...

You can find the MTHFR snp under 'Methylation and Methionine/Homocysteine Pathways.'

@NO1165 Thank you so much for the gluten in the meds info!!! What in the heck is wrong with these companies? Well, i guess we KNOW what is wrong with them, Big Pharma. i will take this up when i get my Thyroid results, on the 24th. Not sure if this is the right page to answer you on??
i made a word.doc to share with my doc and pharmacist, which the pharmacist knows more than the doctors in my case. He keeps up with this stuff but i bet he does not know that YET!
thanks, blessed day to you
interested in what the response about the Autoimmune Protocol diet is, maybe that is what we need to be on...

I have Hashimotos, too. I have tried all the thyroid meds out there and am now on just T3 alone. I also found out that most all T3 meds have gluten in them and found only one that doesn't, by Perrigo Labs. Why they haven't figured out that a lot of people can't handle gluten; my doctor didn't know why they still put gluten in our meds! I think there are some other ones, like WP Thyroid (natural thyroid med, T4 and T3 combo) meds that don't have gluten either. Call the company on that, though, to make sure.

I have not read all the replies thus far, but being a little familiar with the methylation process, I personally would want to know your vitamin D level. There is a blood test that can give you the answer. It is called 25 OH vitamin D, chronic vitamin D deficiency or even insufficiency can have a profound effect on thyroid health. I hope this helps you.
